RAF TYPE H ELECTRICALLY HEATED FLYING GLOVES

For sale are a superb pair of RAF Type H Electrically Heated Flying Gloves. 22C/1025. 24 Volts. Size Medium.
 
The gloves are in absolutely superb condition, inside and out, made from a beautifully soft chestnut brown leather. Externally the leather is superb, with only a few darkened areas showing service use consummate with age. The gloves have a gusseted cuff section, which can be tightened through two press studs on the reverse side. Both press studs function beautifully and the caps still retain the majority of their painted finish.
 
Internally the gloves are chamois lined with a fleeced inner glove, covered in brown rayon, containing the heating elements for connecting to the Type-H heating system. This is the 24 volt variant, and as the photos show both gloves have matching labels, indicating they are a true pair (which is rather rare). The gloves are flawless inside, with no damage to the rayon liner or the fleeced compartment. The chamois is still wonderfully soft.
 
There is a stitched-in label which says “SERIES”. I cannot confirm whether this is a name tag, or an indication the gloves were used in series as part of the Type-H heating system. It certainly makes for an interesting research project.
 
Overall these are a fantastic, rare pair of flying gloves which are very difficult to find these day (especially in this condition as a true pair).
