RAF TYPE C CARBON MICROPHONE

For sale is an exceedingly rare Type C Carbon Microphone (Type E when wired). 10A/9004. 
 
A pre-WW2 microphone that continued in use well into the war, particularly with bomber command, this carbon microphone (10A/7355) is contained in a distinctively shaped brass casing. The example here is in fantastic condition, complete with its original chamois cover (most found these days appear to be recovered). The chamois is still lovely and soft, although there are a few areas where it has split (most likely due to shrinkage over the years). Interestingly the chamois appears to have the number '2' written on. The brass itself is in lovely condition, with the majority of the original paint and internal sprayed-cork.
 
This particular version is complete with the locking plate, indicating use by Fighter Command.
