RAF TYPE 20 / 21 MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY

RAF TYPE 20 / 21 MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY

SOLD

For sale is an original wartime example of the Type 20 Microphone (Type 21 when wired). 10A/11994.

The Type 20 Microphone was a black, alloy microphone first issued in October 1940, just at the end of the Battle of Britain. It is often erroneously called the '1941' pattern.

This particular microphone is a lovely example in fantastic condition. VIrtually all of the original lacquer finish is in tact, with nice clear Air Ministry engravings. I believe this particular example, with the horizontal text and reference number stamped to the side, to be an earlier iteration.

There is no internal rubber ring, but more often than not these are perished.

A super, early example of this scarce microphone.
