RAF MARK VIII FLYING GOGGLES, 22C/930. BOXED.
SOLD
For sale are a pair of Mark VIII Flying Goggles, complete in their original box of issue. 22C/930. Named.
As the photos show the goggles are in great condition, with only moderate service use. The chamois and leather are all in great condition, with the rear pads named to 'J. Vipond', along with his service number. I have not attempted to research any further into this individual.
The metal frames have only minor paint loss, and are finished in a vibrant aquamarine blue. The edges of the frames have a rolled edge, which is typical of wartime goggles. The lenses are clear and have not suffered any serious delamination.
Lastly the strap is excellent, and still retains most of its elasticity.
The box is complete with its components: anti-dimming tin, and the tinted lenses respectively. The tinted lenses are in great condition, with only minor delamination.
It would be extremely difficult to upgrade this set.
