RAF MARK II FLYING "GOGGLES, LIGHTWEIGHT"
SOLD
For sale are an incredibly rare pair of Mark II Flying goggles, correctly known as "Goggles, Lightweight, Flying". 22C/44.
An interwar pattern of goggles, the Mark II goggles are often seen in early war photos and continued in use well into WW2, particularly in the MTO where their lightweight frame and triplex lenses (sometimes tinted) proved popular.
This particular are in good condition with some flaws symptomatic of their age and service use. The frames are very clean with almost all of their original blackened finish. The lenses are very clear, though the right-hand lens has suffered a tiny crack on the inside lens. The strap is nice and clean, though some areas of the fragile leather covering have worn away revealing the springs.
Overall an excellent, used pair of these very rare and iconic goggles.
