RAF EARLY WAR FLYING OFFICER TUNIC

RAF EARLY WAR FLYING OFFICER TUNIC

SOLD

For sale is a nice example of an early pattern officer’s tunic with the rank of Flying Officer.

The tunic, constructed out of officer’s barathea wool, is in really nice condition with only minimal evidence of moth damage (please see photos). The tunic is most likely an earlier design, judging by the blue/grey colour of the barathea and the contrasting grey stitching.

Sadly the tunic does not have a maker’s label (symptomatic of these being a private purchase item), and also lacks any wings. There is no evidence that any wings or brevet were ever fitted.

As the photos show, the tunic is a snug fit on my mannequin bust which is a 36-38 inch chest and has a frock on underneath (not included).

Overall a nice tunic, and suitable for either a collector or reenactor.
