RAF ‘BATTLE OF BRITAIN’ TYPE E CARBON MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY FOR THE TYPE D MASK
SOLD
For sale from my private Battle of Britain collection is an exceedingly rare Type C Carbon Microphone (Type E when wired), 10A/9004 complete with an early Q Type wiring loom (10H/10353) and Type C Receivers (10A/7073).
A pre-WW2 microphone that continued in use well into the war, particularly with bomber command, this carbon microphone (10A/7355) is contained in a distinctively shaped brass casing. The example here is in fantastic condition, complete with its original chamois cover (most found these days appear to be recovered). The chamois is still lovely and soft, with only light surface soiling. The alloy itself is in lovely condition, with the majority of the original paint and internal sprayed-cork.
This particular version is complete with the locking plate, indicating use by Fighter Command, though interestingly it has been bent back on itself to enable the use of the toggle switch.
The microphone is finished with a lovely, early Q Type wiring loom in the scarce plum colour way. As with all early looms, the cords are fully rounded.
The loom is completed with a lovely set of early Type C Receivers (10A/7073), and a chocolate brown bell plug. Both receivers and plug are in excellent condition.
A very rare opportunity to obtain this iconic Battle of France / Britain microphone. Only selling due to a minor upgrade.
