RAF TYPE C FLYING HELMET, INTERNALLY WIRED , LATE WAR - SIZE 4

RAF TYPE C FLYING HELMET, INTERNALLY WIRED , LATE WAR - SIZE 4

SOLD

For sale is a gorgeous example of a late war, RAF Type C Flying Helmet, complete with its internal wiring loom and Type 32 Receivers. Stores Ref. 22c/880, Size 4.

The helmet is in absolutely super condition, retaining its original finish and with no age darkening to the leather (which indicates it has not been treated with any harsh leather conditioners). Whilst the external markings have all but faded, the helmet is very generously sized and from the faint remains of the internal stamping I can see that it is a Size 4, the largest made. The helmet is complete with all of its goggle straps, retaining 99% of the original paint. The chinstrap is still very elasticated and in great condition. Inside the helmet is really clean, with only light soiling.

The helmet is complete with its original internal wiring loom (correctly stitched into place). The loom again is in fantastic condition and complete with a really nice, wartime bell-plug, in the early chocolate brown colour. The loom does have some rust(?) stains on it, but nothing to detract from its displayability.

The loom is connected to a pair of Type 32 receivers (10A/13466) which appear to be a matching set.

The only noticeable flaw that the helmet has is the fact that the left-hand earcup has solidified around the receiver. This does not detract too much from what is a superb display helmet, however I have reflected this in the price.

Overall this a superb flying helmet, and one that would be difficult to upgrade.
