RAF AIRCREW MARK IVA 6D/482 BRASS OXYGEN CONNECTOR / ADAPTOR

RAF AIRCREW MARK IVA 6D/482 BRASS OXYGEN CONNECTOR / ADAPTOR

SOLD

For sale is a rare, original wartime Mark IVA Brass Oxygen Connector (6D/482) intended for connecting the Mark IV Oxygen Hose connector to the earlier Mark IIB* 6D/101 connectors fitted to D Type Oxygen Hoses and adaptor hoses.

The connector is in fantastic condition, with nice, bright, original brass finish. I have left this exactly as I found it. Interestingly the connector still shows remnants of the original hose, which in this case is a rare early braided example (black with yellow fleck). It is unusual to find these connectors fitted to the very early pattern of oxygen hose, as most were fitted to the later unbraided iterations.

Despite the connector being in fantastic condition, the internal spring has totally gone as the photos show. This does not affect the ability to display this fully connected as the last photo shows, and it makes a great display piece. The spring's absence is reflected in the price.

The Mark IVA Connectors were usually connected to adaptor hoses, intended for allowing aircrew to connect the later oxygen hoses to portable "walk around" oxygen bottles that still used the earlier, constant-flow systems.

A rare item that is hard to come by these days.
