RAF 1943 PATTERN ESCAPE FLYING BOOTS
SOLD
Up for sale are one of the nicest pairs of 1943 Pattern Escape Flying Boots I have had the pleasure of coming across. Size 9/10 (approx).
As the photos show, these boots are in immaculate condition. The outer sheepskin suede is perfect, with no marks or blemishes whilst the interior is unmolested by moth damage with lovely, bright, fluffy sheepskin. The leather shoe section is likewise in perfect condition, and the leather is rich and shiny.
The zips are marked with the broad arrow, and both run freely. Rather scarcely, the shoes are complete with their original laces and the soles look to be original as well.
Designed by Clayton Hutton at MI9, these 'Escape' boots were ingeniously designed so that the upper suede section could be cut away by using the folded pocket knife that was held in the pocket in the right boot (sadly missing) in the event a pilot had to ditch over enemy territory.
A superb pair of boots.
