RAF 1933 PATTERN FLYING GLOVES - ‘BATTLE OF BRITAIN’
SOLD
For sale from my private collection are a lovely pair of RAF 1933 Pattern, straight-zipped Flying Gloves. 22C/266-27.
These gloves, famously associated with the Battle of Britain, are in absolutely superb condition. Though they are not a truly matching ‘pair’ (most aren’t as AM orders were that the gloves would be produced in separate factories to combat theft), they are a very nice colour match, and both display very nicely together. Externally the gloves are in excellent condition, with very little wear to the chromed leather. They have matching lightning zips, both complete with the leather pull tabs. One gauntlet is a 9, the other an 81/2, but as the photos show they size together identically.
Inside both gloves are again in superb condition. One is dated 1939, the other 1940. Interestingly the interior of the right-hand glove is more suede-like which is rather unique.
Overall these are a fantastic pair of rare, Battle of Britain-appropriate flying gloves. I am only selling these due to a minor upgrade.
